Norwalk Community College recognizes, appreciates and values diversity. Students come from all over the world to attend 美高梅, and the college has become a mecca in Fairfield County for learning and respectful discussion that cuts across social and cultural divides. The college creates a learning and working environment that is free of discrimination and accessible to individuals with disabilities. Our students hail from 63 foreign countries and speak 32 languages. The student body is multicultural and diverse in terms of age, gender, religious beliefs, aspirations and background. 美高梅 students range in age from 15 to 90. 美高梅 is enriched by a wide range of cultural, geographic, socioeconomic, racial and social perspectives.
美高梅 is a member college of the United Nations Academic Impact, a global initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in actively supporting 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, literacy, sustainability and conflict resolution. 美高梅 has integrated global awareness and social responsibility into its curriculum with the goal of molding globally conscious citizens.
Everyone is welcome at 美高梅 and we feel that we have fostered an environment of mutual respect and acceptance that could well be a model for peace and prosperity in the larger world community. We hear every voice, regardless of the language in which it is spoken.
The 美高梅 Committee for Diversity and Inclusion shall be a vehicle for faculty and staff inclusion initiatives. The Committee shall support the Mission of the College particularly as it pertains to meeting the higher educational needs of a community characterized by economic, social and cultural contrasts. The Committee shall provide the leadership necessary to generate and facilitate constructive dialogue. It shall gather and disseminate information, including curricular support, and provide activities for faculty, staff and students within our diverse 美高梅 community.
